02 About

Design that has to work in the real world, not just the prototype.

I'm Abiodun, a Senior UX Designer working across public sector, defence-adjacent and regulated commercial projects. My background sits at the intersection of user research, interaction design and accessibility. I care as much about how a service performs for someone using a screen reader on a low-bandwidth connection as I do about the polish in a Figma file.

Most of my recent work has been inside long-running, multi-stakeholder programmes, translating conflicting requirements from policy, security and operations into services that are simple enough for a first-time user, and robust enough to pass a formal accessibility audit. I lead discovery research, build and govern design systems, and sit close to delivery so what ships matches what was designed.

What it's like to work together.

“

Abiodun is the rare designer who can sit comfortably in a security-assurance meeting in the morning and run a usability session in the afternoon. The research was always airtight.

The design system Abiodun built is still the backbone of how our teams ship UI two years on. It was documented well enough that engineers could self-serve.

Accessibility was never an afterthought with Abiodun; it shaped decisions from the first sketch, which is exactly why we passed our re-audit first time.

WCAG 2.2 AA statement

This portfolio is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard I design and test against in my own professional work. Accessibility is treated as a design requirement from the first sketch, not a remediation pass applied at the end.

Scope

This statement covers all pages and sections of this portfolio site, including navigation, case study content, the contact form and all interactive elements.

What this site does to meet AA

  • Text and interactive elements maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their background
  • All functionality is operable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element
  • Semantic HTML and landmark structure are used throughout, so the page reads correctly with a screen reader
  • Images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative elements are hidden from assistive technology
  • Form fields have explicit labels, clear required-field indication and inline guidance where needed
  • The layout is responsive and remains usable at 200% text zoom without loss of content or function
  • Motion is kept minimal and purposeful; nothing auto-plays or flashes

Known limitations

This site is a design concept built to demonstrate practice rather than a commissioned, formally audited service. Some supporting demo content (the desktop/mobile preview toggle, for example) is provided for illustrative purposes and sits outside the scope of this statement.

Feedback

If you encounter an accessibility barrier anywhere on this site, I want to know about it: aadebayor147@gmail.com.

Accessibility notes

A shorter, practical companion to the formal statement above: what I actually paid attention to while designing and building this site, and why.

01 Colour & contrast

Every text and interface colour pair was checked against WCAG AA contrast thresholds, including the teal and gold accents against both dark and light backgrounds.

02 Keyboard & focus

Every link, button and form field can be reached and operated by keyboard, with a clearly visible focus outline, including through the mobile preview toggle.

03 Structure & headings

Headings follow a logical order, landmarks mark out navigation and main content, and the page is built to be skimmed by screen reader users, not just sighted ones.

04 Forms & errors

The contact form uses explicit labels tied to each field, marks required fields clearly, and avoids placeholder text as a substitute for a proper label.

05 Responsive & zoom

Layouts hold together from a 390px mobile viewport up to wide desktop, and content reflows cleanly at 200% browser zoom rather than clipping or overlapping.

06 Motion & animation

Transitions are short, purposeful and non-essential to understanding the content; nothing auto-plays, loops indefinitely, or flashes.
